چکیده

An extension of the basic image reconstruction problem in discrete tomography is considered: given a graph G = (V, E) and a family P of chains Pi together with vectors h(Pi) = (h 1 i , ..., h k i ), one wants to find a partition V , ..., V k of V such that for each Pi and each color j, |V ∩Pi| = hji . An interpretation in terms of scheduling is presented. We consider special cases of graphs and identify polynomially solvable cases; general complexity results are established in this case and also in the case where V , ..., V k is required to be a proper vertex k-coloring of G. Finally we examine also the case of (proper) edge k-colorings and determine its complexity status.

A practical algorithm for [r, s, t]-coloring of graph

Coloring graphs is one of important and frequently used topics in diverse sciences. In the majority of the articles, it is intended to find a proper bound for vertex coloring, edge coloring or total coloring in the graph. Although it is important to find a proper algorithm for graph coloring, it is hard and time-consuming too. In this paper, a new algorithm for vertex coloring, edge coloring an...

Degree-constrained edge partitioning in graphs arising from discrete tomography

Starting from the basic problem of reconstructing a 2-dimensional image given by its projections on two axes, one associates a model of edge coloring in a complete bipartite graph. The complexity of the case with k = 3 colors is open. Variations and special cases are considered for the case k = 3 colors where the graph corresponding to the union of some color classes (for instance colors 1 and ...

Using graphs for some discrete tomography problems

Given a rectangular array where entries represent the pixels of a digitalized image, we consider the problem of reconstructing an image from the number of occurrences of each color in every column and in every row. The complexity of this problem is still open when there are just three colors in the image. We study some special cases where the number of occurences of each color is limited to sma...

Just chromatic exellence in fuzzy graphs

A fuzzy graph is a symmetric binary fuzzy relation on a fuzzy subset. The concept of fuzzy sets and fuzzy relations was introduced by L.A.Zadeh in 1965cite{zl} and further studiedcite{ka}. It was Rosenfeldcite{ra} who considered fuzzy relations on fuzzy sets and developed the theory of fuzzy graphs in 1975. The concepts of fuzzy trees, blocks, bridges and cut nodes in fuzzy graph has been studi...

Solving a nurse rostering problem considering nurses preferences by graph theory approach

Nurse Rostering Problem (NRP) or the Nurse Scheduling Problem (NSP) is a complex scheduling problem that affects hospital personnel on a daily basis all over the world and is known to be NP-hard.The problem is to decide which members of a team of nurses should be on duty at any time, during a rostering period of, typically, one month. It is very important to efficiently utilize time and effort, ...
